Aboriginal Dreaming Stories
In this part of the unit we are going to explore the different meanings that can be associated with landforms. There are five different types of value that can be associated with a landform and these values will be different for each individual person.

Activity #1 Glossary
1. Download and read the information on 'Valuing Landforms and Landscapes'. 2. Using the information, add these four terms to your glossary (Spiritual Value, Aesthetic Value, Cultural Value, Economic Value). 3. Once you have finished your glossary, try to find 1-2 examples of landscapes in Australia for each value (Spiritual, Aesthetic, Economic and Cultural). Activity #2 Booklet 1. Create a booklet following teacher instructions with a piece of paper. It will have three pages for information. 2. The title for the front cover of your book is 'Landforms with Value'. There will be a page for Spiritual, for Cultural and Aesthetic. 3. Find a landform in Australia that has a spiritual connection and describe it. Glue a picture of it next to its information. 4. Find a landform in Australia that has aesthetic value to you (something that is beautiful to you) and describe it. Glue a picture of it next to its information. 5. Find an Australian movie/poem/song/book that has a cultural connection and describe it. Glue a picture of it next to its information. |
Activity #1 Sharing Country

Think about what the Indigenous people value about their country and compare it to what we value about our country. 3. Watch the clip 'How Uluru Came To Be' and think about why the Indigenous people have such a strong connection to the landform. Activity #2 Research Dreaming Story 1. In partners, you are going to be given a landform. 2. You are to research the Aboriginal Dreamtime Story for your chosen landform. You need to find:
